Road trip - Australian's Outback

Quelle histoire… tout commence mercredi soir où l’on décide de partir en road trip avec 3 pots de l’IFMA... Donc, jeudi, préparation du weekend pour camper et l’occasion de la voiture. Nous y voila, 20H on part direction l’outback Australien et plus précisément le désert vers Broken Hill à environ 10H de route de Melbourne...
Pour cela, on a une magnifique Ford focus flambant neuve avec seulement 18 km au compteur !!

What a story... all starts Wednesday night when we decided going to a road trip for three days with three friends of my school... thus, Thursday preparation of the weekend for camping and renting a car. Here we go, Thursday 8:00 pm, we are leaving to the Australian’s outback and more precisely to the desert around Broken Hill; around 10h driving from Melbourne…
About the car, we had a white Ford Focus totally new with only 18km on the speedometer!!

Conduite de nuit pour perdre le moins de temps possible sur un weekend de trois jours mais vers 2H du matin, nous avons décidé de nous arrêter pour dormir un peu... tout d’abord nous avons essayé de dormir dans la voiture ; mais le confort n’était pas la donc nous avons posé la tente. Au passage nous ne savions pas vraiment si nous avions le droit de le faire car nous étions au bord d’un parc national, le Murray Sunset Parc... Mais bon, pour quelques heures sommeil jusqu’au lever du soleil. ca na pas vraiment d’importance !

Driving during the night in order to loose less time as possible on a three day weekend but around 2:00am, we decided to stop the car and sleep a little bit… firstly we tried inside the car but it was quite uncomfortable so we put our tent outside. About that, we didn’t really know if we had the right to sleep there because we were on the edge of a national park, the Murray National Park… Anyway, only for two hours sleeping until the sunrise, who cares??

Apres un petit déjeuner et replier la tente, direction les Pink Lakes (lacs roses) dans le Sunset parc... Magnifique couleurs !! La couleur rose est du sel mais qui est rose du à des bactéries.

Then a breakfast and get the tent back in the car; drive to the Pink lakes in side the Park… Beautiful colours!! And just to explain, the pink colour comes from bacteria which are inside the salt.

Ensuite, nous nous sommes dirigés vers Mungo Parc... Cette fois, c’est le désert !! Et bien évidement avec les pistes de sable rouge pour y accéder !!
Mais en chemin, nous avons du change d’état et la surprise, il est interdit de transporter des fruits et donc il faut les jeter !! Incroyable... pour nous ca a été notre déjeuner. Cette restriction est là pour éviter d’importer des maladies pour les mouches.
Près de 80 km de pistes et nous voila à l’entrée du parc ! Nous y avons passé un jour complet et passé une nuit ! Totalement merveilleux !! Nous étions quasi seuls au monde avec aucun réseau !! Nous en avons profité pour admirer le coucher de soleil sur le mur de chine, fêter l’anniversaire de Thibault et lui offrir un petit cadeau souvenir de l’Australie pour ses 23 ans, faire n’importe quoi...bref, que du bonheur !!

After that, we drove to mungo Park... this one is in the desert!! Thus, obviously with w lot of red sand tracks to go there!!
But on the way, we had to change of interstate and bad new, it is forbidden carrying fruits! So we had to trash them… but for us it was our lunch.
After 80 km of track, we were front of the park! We stayed there for one full day and one night. Totally awesome!! We were only us, alone on the world, no one cell phone network !! We admired the sunset on the Walls of China ...We equally wished a happy birthday to our friend, Thibault for is 23rd...

Le lendemain, surprise au réveil puisque des autruches se trouvaient juste à côté de notre campement !! Nous avons aussi bien sur vu pleins de kangourous et pu s’éclater sur les 70km de piste faisant le tour du parc...

The next day, surprise for our wake up because two Emus were staying just near our camp! And of course we saw a lot of kangaroos and had fun on the 70 km of track which do the entire round of the park…

Nous avons ensuite quitté le parc en début d’après midi pour nous diriger vers big desert, un autre parc national... mais qui est vers le sud donc on à laissé tomber l’idée d’aller à Broken Hill. Malheureusement, une fois arrivé sur place, nous n’avons pas pu emprunter la piste qui traverse ce parc car elle est interdit pour les véhicules à deux roues motrices et en plus elle était fermée à cause de la météo... et oui c’est l’hiver donc trop humide surement !

Then, we got out the park at the beginning of the afternoon in order to go to the big desert, another national park… but this one is on the south and so we let our first idea down which was going to Broken Hill. Unfortunately, once arrived, the track was forbidden for all 2-wheels car but was also closed because of the weather… Yey, it is the still the winter here thus probably too humid…

Donc nous avons pris la route vers un autre parc Little Desert mais nous avons arrêté au cours de route pour établir notre campement... Premier arrêt non rassurant car nous nous sommes arrêtés juste à coté d’une prairie pleine de mouton qui bêlait et du coup, les chiens de la ferme aboyaient !! Donc on repart quelques km plus loin et cette fois nous posons le campement. Réveil de nouveau au lever du jour vers 6h avec le bruit des oiseaux...

Thus, we take the road toward another park, Little Desert but we stopped the car on the road somewhere to establish our camp... First stop was not really well because we were close to a prairie with a lot of sheep and so they were doing a lot of noise and so the farms’ dogs were barking; so we decided to move away a little bite. Wake up again at 6am and see the sunrise with the birds’ noise…

Puis une fois au parc, petite déception car il n’y a que des arbres plus au moins mort à voir donc on a décidé de partir vers les montagnes Grampians Mountain, qui se trouvent pas très loin...
Then, once in the park, little deception because there are only trees more or less dead to see thus we decided to move toward the Grampians mountain which not too far…

Une fois sur place, on fait une petite marche pour voir la chute d’eau et admirer le paysage...

Mais voila, dimanche commence à être bien entamé, donc il faut prendre le chemin du retour et rentrer sur Melbourne... Avec un petit d’avance car nous devons nettoyer la voiture et enlever toute cette poussière rouge qui est absolument partout !!!

But here we go; it was Sunday after lunch, so it was time to come back to Melbourne little earlier in order to clean the car... After around 400 km of red sand track, the sand was everywhere in and out of the car!!

Au finale, weekend merveilleux avec dépaysement et découverte de l’Australie !! Paysage, animaux ...
Tout cela avec une voiture neuve que l’on a un peu pourri avec près de 400 km de piste de sable rouge et au finale, notre premier road trip a été près de 2300km, 3 nuits de camping et bien sur, plein de belles choses en souvenir ...

All of that with a new car that we messed the car up just a little with the red sand but we did 2300 km for our first road trip!! Awesome, camping, a lot of beautiful things in my head…

Première sortie dès jeudi soir pour fêter l'anniversaire d'une de mes colloque: Tone. Alors comme elle travaillait à son université jusqu'à environ 9H; Laura et moi avons été dans un bar prendre un petit cocktail sur Brunswick en attendant. Ensuite on retrouve Tone et ses amis jusque tard dans la nuit... Petit truc sympa, on était dans un bar sans toit!!! Cool Bon ensuite il a fallu que nous prenions un taxi car tous les trams ne circulaient plus!

First outing this week in Thursday night to wish a happy birthday to one of my housemate: Tone. Because she was working until 9pm at her university, Laura and me went to a bar and had a drink in Brunswick. Then, we met Tone with her frinds until late in the night... Little thing funny, the bar has no roof!! Cool but after we needed to get on a cab to come back home because all the trams were not working!

Le lendemain, rendez-vous avec des français de l'IFMA pour un énorme apéro! Et oui 3 autres Ifmalien sont aussi sur Melbourne pour effectuer leur stage. On retrouve en plus un autre français qui est marié à une Vietnamienne. Ils vivent au Vietnam mais son ici pour une semaine car le marié, jean-Baptiste a vécu 2 ans à Melbourne et est un ami d'enfance de Thibault, un Ifmalien. Bref, on s'est retrouvé vers Chapel street et avons pris l'apéro... Ensuite on s'est retrouvé entre Ifmalien et on a fini dans le Crown! Un énorme Casino ou on a encore pris l'apéro jusqu'à tard le soir... Enfin tot 5H30.

The next day, appointment with all my french friends coming from my school for a big Apero!! three "ifmalien" are also here for their internship. We also met another french guy who is married with a Vietnam girl and live normally there. But they are here for one week because of Jean-Baptiste, the married guy lived two years in Melbourne and he is also a friend of Thibault, one of my friends. Thus, we went to Chapel street, south east of Melbourne taking drinks. Then, we went to the Crown, a big Casino to finish the night... Or start the morning because I came back at 5:30 am.

Samedi, je retrouve Thibault dans l'après midi et on est allé vers les magasins vers Flinders Station. C'est un arrêt de métro ou il y a plein de magasins. Il y en a même un ou l'on peut trouver des polos à 15 dollars!! Cool et j'ai même trouvé un magasin vendant des fringues US!!

Saturday, I met Thibault during the afternoon and we did shopping around Flinders Station. It is a metro Stop where a lot of shops are. There is also a US brand in this area! Cool and I saw some polo for only 15 dollars.

Le soir énorme burger au niveau du casino ou il y a énormément de magasins. Petite chose étonnante aussi, tout au long de la rivière Yarrah River à South Bank en plein centre de Melbourne, on peut trouver des grosses cheminés et admirer un spectacle de feu... Et bien ca réchauffe en tout cas!!

The night, huge burger in the Casino area where there are a lot of shops. Little thing amazing, all around the Yarrah River in South Bank, we can see a fire show in the downtown of Melbourne!! Great... you can almost feel warmer!

Ensuite, on a été dans un bar pour de nouveau prendre un verre mais cette fois ci je suis rentré plus tôt.

Then, we went in a bar again and take a beer but this time I came back earlier.

Dimanche, rendez-vous vers 10H30 avec Thibault et J-B pour aller se faire un petit golf. Génial ... petite pensée à Daniel. Quelle partie! on à tous taper soit dans un arbre ou encore plus funny, un piquet d'une grillage pour Thibault! Faut le faire quand même. Et le clou du jeu; lors du dernier trou, j'attirer dans le bunker près du green après mon premier lancé. Ensuite je m'apprête à la sortir comme j'avais appris... mais la le sable était plus compact et mon club ne sais pas enfoncer comme je l'aurais voulu... Donc ma balle a décollé comme jamais et est sortie du court de golf en passant au dessus du grillage!! Heureusement qu'elle n'est pas tombée sur une voiture! Au final, je termine deuxième avec +20 sur un neuf trous. bon pas terrible mais bon au moins je vais pouvoir progresser!

Sunday, appointment with J-B and Thibault at 10:30am for a golf. A thought for Daniel!! What game!! We had all catched a tree are a part of a wire mesh. Are we good, aren't we?? And the most funny part: at the last hole, I launched my ball in a bunker close to the green after my fist try; then I wanted to go it out as I learned with striking strong... But too strong because of the sand was harder than expected... and my ball is gone out the field on a street!! hopeful no car was under! Finally, I finished second with +20 on a 9 holes. Not so good but I have a way to progress!

Ce weekend à été visite du centre ville. Bon samedi n'a pas été une grande marche car la pluie n'était pas très agréable... Donc simplement promenade dans le Victoria Market. Un énorme marché ou l'on trouve de tout... Nourriture, cadeau, vêtements!! Bref c'est un marché sympa.

The last weekend was visit of the downtown. Ok Saturday was not extradinary because of the rain... Thus, just walk in the Victoria Market. A very big Market where we can find everythings... Food, gifts, clothes!! Well, a nice market.

Dimanche, enfin il fait meilleur et le soleil tente de percer un peu... Donc je retourne en ville pour me balader et découvrir le centre ville et c'est buildings!! Passage devant la court suprême, le port, différents endroits incontournables du centre ville... Plus de 5 Heures de marche, quelques photos et retour à la maison pour se préparer et regarder le gp de F1. Et oui même au bout du monde m'a passion ma suivie!!

Sunday, finally the sun trying to shine... Thus, I come back to the downtown to walk and discover this town with all these buildings!! Passage front of the Suprem Court, docksland and different places ... Over 5 hours walking, some photos later and I came back to my housemate to watch the Formula one gp. Oh yes, even at the other end of the world, my passion is always in me!!

Je termine par le plus grand immeuble de Melbourne: Rialto Tower. Il est possible de monter dans l'un des derniers étages pour admirer la vue... mais se sera pour une autre fois.

I finish by the highest building in Melbourne: The Rialto Tower. It is possible to go up in the latest floor to enjoy the view... but that will be for another time.
