The end...

Et voilà, le départ de l'Australie est pour dans moins de deux heures ce qui signifie que mon année internationale touche à sa fin... Mais quelle année !!

Maintenant je vous à bientôt en France et le programme pour la suite va être de terminer mon mois de cours à l'IFMA ainsi que mon stage de fin d'étude PIFE que je vais faire pour Michelin Compétition!

Il s'agit aussi de la fin de ce blog qui j'espère vous aura fait voyager avec moi tout au long de cette année, que ce soit aux Etats-unis où en Australie...

Here it is, departure from Australia is in less than two hours which means that my international year is coming to an end... But what a year!!

Now I'll say: see you soon in France (al least for the next few months) where my plan is to finish my studies at IFMA and then, to do my last internship PIFE which I will do in Michelin Racing in Clermont-Fd!

The end means the end of this blog as well which I hope has allowed you to travel with me throughout the year, either in America or Australia...

Road Trip from Brisbane to Sydney by Cairns!

Pour notre dernier road trip, le plan était de prendre un avion direction Brisbane pour faire Brisbane – Sydney en passant par Cairns. Nous partons à trois jusqu'a Cairns, ensuite Vincent doit prendre son avion pour Melbourne avant de retourner en France, et donc Thibault et moi ferons le trajet jusqu'à Sydney.

For our last road trip, the plan was to fly to Brisbane and drive down to Sydney for the New Year passing through Cairns : )

Nous sommes partis le 19 décembre à 16h de Melbourne et nous avons atterris à 18h15 heure locale à Brisbane. Nous avons pris notre voiture de location, une Toyota Corolla 655 km au compteur et malgré la pluie, nous avons été au centre ville. Génial, on a passé la soirée au lagon, nagé avec une vue sur le centre ville. Et ensuite, nous avons trouvé une place sauvage pour camper.

We took off on the 19th of December at 4:00pm from Melbourne and we landed at 6:15pm in Brisbane. Then, we took our rented car, a Toyota Corolla 655km on the speedometer and in spite of a little rain, we went to visit the city. It was very good because there is a Lagoon, with a view of the city, where we could swim. Finally, we found a place to camp.

Le lendemain, nous sommes retournés à Brisbane au lagon pour prendre un petit déjeuner. Ensuite, nous avons pris la voiture et rouler le long de la côte en s’arrêtant à différentes plages: Noosa et sur la Sunshine Coast...

Next day, we went back to the city to enjoy breakfast near the Lagoon. Then, we drove north along the coast stopping at different beaches on the way and visiting Noosa Head, Sunshine Coast…

Le jour suivant, nous avons commencé par aller à Rainbow Beach. Sur la route, nous avons passé sur une route pavée, trop bien! Ca rappel le désert et en plus nous avons vus des kangourous. Et évidement, nous avons nagés dans la mer. Ensuite, arrêt à Inskit point, le lieu le plus proche de Fraser Island. Jolie vue sur cette ile où l'on peut y aller uniquement en bateau. Après, nous avons été à Hervey Bay où nous avons déjeunés. Ensuite on a marché sur le long ponton pour voir Fraser Island et les pécheurs, et ensuite on a été sur la plage pour voir toutes ces petites araignées de mer...quand soudain, Vincent à été attaqué par un crabe qui a pincé sa tongue! Cool heureusement qu’i la acheté la veille et a le bonne taille en plus :) Puis, nous avons été à Bargara pour diner BBQ devant la mer avant de trouver un campement.

The next morning, we started by going to Rainbow beach. On the way, we drove on an "unsealed" road - it was so good - and we saw few kangaroos. And obviously, we swam in the sea. Then we went to Inskit Point, the most easterly point in the country, before going to Fraser Island. After that, we drove to Hervey Bay where we had lunch. Next, we walked over a long bridge (dock) to see Fraser Island again and on the way we saw some fish in the sea. Then, we walked along the beach where we saw a lot of little sea spiders. Suddenly, Vincent was bitten by a crab on his flip flop… Wahoo so lucky he bought them the day before and didn't take a smaller pair… :( Then, we had a BBQ at Bargara and found a place to sleep in a sugar cane field.

Jour d'après, nous avons décidés d'aller à une distillerie de rhum à Bundaberg mais tout était payant, même la dégustation! Donc on a été à une brasserie qui fait de la limonade aromatisée et la nous avons pu tout gouter et nous avons donc achetés quelques bouteilles pour noël. Apres cela, on est retourné à Bargara pour déjeuner et l'après-midi a été consacrée à la baignade pour moi, et masque tube pour les autres. Pour le soir, on a été à Burnett Heads pour voir les tortues sortir de la mer pour pondre... Malheureusement, nous en avons vu qu'une et elle a fait demi tour avant de pondre; et ensuite un gros orage a éclaté! Donc après quelques heures d'attentes, nous avons décidés de continuer notre route vers Cairns.

Next day, we decided to go to a rum distillery in Bundaberg but you have to pay for everything. We were disappointed not to be able to taste it; however we went to another place, a brasserie and that time we could taste all the different lemonades which was quite good. We bought few of them for Christmas. After that, we went back to Bargara to have lunch and Thibault & Vincent hired some Snorkeling equipment for the afternoon. As I had already done it on the Coral Reef, I did not wanted to spend anymore money, so I swam in the sea and enjoyed the sun. Anyway, it was really rocky and sharp because of sea shells. Then, we went to Burnett Heads hoping to see turtles coming out of the sea to lay their eggs in some holes in the sand. Unfortunately, we only saw one but she came out at a rocky area and went straight back into the sea and then, a big thunder storm blew up; so we decided to drive to the next destination.

Après un camping sauvage dans un chemin, nous avons été dans la ville appellée 1770. Le nom correspond à la date du premier anglais venu en Australie. Ok, mais c'est juste un grand camping au bord de mer; mais la vue est très jolie. Ensuite, on a roulé jusqu'a Rockampton et sur la route on a acheté un gros sac de mangues pour seulement 10$. Une fois arrivé, nous avons fait notre BBQ pour déjeuner et continué jusqu'à Mackay. Sur place, nous avons juste dinés et trouvés une place pour dormir.

In the morning, we continued driving to 1770, an old town. The name of that town came from the first English guy who came to Australia. Well, it’s more like a big camp site but the view is fantastic. Then, we drove to Rockampton. On the way, we stopped at a mango’s farm and we bought a big bag for only 10$. Once there, we had a BBQ for lunch and then, continued to Mackay. There, we had diner at a picnic area in front of the sea.

Le jour suivant, nous avons passés la journée à Airlie Beach dans le lagon. En plus, BBQ à disposition donc journée pleine de soleil, bain et relaxation. Trop bien avec une superbe vue sur la mer. Ensuite en fin de journée, nous avons roulés jusqu'à Townsville mais sur la route, nous avons croisés une voiture avec une roue crevée. Nous avons fait demi-tour pour voir si la personne avait besoin d'aide et bien évidement, c'était une femme, la quarantaine seule et désespérée pour un 24 décembre. J'ai donc changé la roue avec l'aide de Vinc' et Thibault et pour nous remercier, elle voulait partager notre diner mais nous avons refusés. Elle nous a donc donnée quelques bonbons au chocolat qui tombait à pic pour notre réveillon de noël! Puis pour notre diner à Townville, nous avons dinés devant la mer mais nous avons du changés de table trois fois car nous étions arrosés par les arroseurs automatiques. C'est fou! Ensuite, après notre festin, BBQ, fromage, gâteau et bonbons nous avons trouvés une place pour notre campement sauvage.

Next day, we started by driving to Airlie Beach. There we just enjoyed the Lagoon all the day, and took the sun & swam... So good. Moreover we did our traditionally BBQ around the Lagoon with a free BBQ. Then, during the afternoon, we drove to Townville and had our Christmas Eve Diner front of the beach! (BBQ, cheese, cake and coke). But on the road, at 132km to Townville, we saw a 4 wheels car stopped out of the road with a tire totally blow up. So we decided to take the way back to see what's going on. And it was a woman totally hopeless. So I changed the wheel with the help of my friends and to thanks us, she wanted to share our diner but we didn't accepted so she gave to us the rest of her chocolate box. Well during our diner, we had to change our table three times because we were watered by the automatic sprinkle. It's crazy. Then, we found a place to camp somewhere in the land at 30km from Townville.

Le matin suivant, nous avons visités Townsville en allant au sommet de la colline Castle Hill. Ensuite nous avons été au parc national de Paluma dans la rainforest. Ok ce n'était pas tellement humide même plutôt asséchée mais nous avons quand même pu nous baigner dans un trou d'eau. Génial mais un petit inconvénient était le bruit des insectes genre cricket. Et en sortant du parc, nous nous sommes arrêtés aux chutes d'eau même s’il pleuvait. Pas mal mais je crois qu'il pleuvait plus parce que c'était la saison des pluie plutôt qu'au faite que c’est la forêt des pluies. Et oui c'est un climat tropical car nous sommes au dessus des tropiques. Nous nous sommes ensuite arrêtés à Mission Beach pour nous baigner un 25 décembre dans la pacifique! Ok ca c'est fait:) bon pour vous dire nous avons pris énormément de risque car à cette saison et au-dessus de Rockampton, il y a beaucoup de méduses et certaines sont mortelles... non nous avons été entre les bouées mis a disposition et c'était génial! Pour la nuit, nous avons été nous baigner à Cairns dans le Lagon et dinés avec vu sur mer.

In the next morning, we visited Townville by going on the Castle hill lookout. Then, we went to Paluma Range national Park in the Rainforest. Well it was not really full of water but we could swim in a waterhole. It was cool but one thing which is not convenient was the noise gives out by small insects like cricket. And when we went out of the park, we got a light rain as everyday but I think it's more because it's the wet season than the fact we were in the rainforest. We stopped at the falls as well. After that, we stopped at Mission Beach and we swam in the sea on the 25th of December :) well on the North of Australia, at this time above Rockampton on the East Coast, we couldn't swim in the sea because of Jelly Fish! But there it was an inflated bag defining an area to swim by protecting the swimmers with a net. So we went inside and so I did it! I swam for Christmas in the Pacific Sea. During the night, we went in the Lagoon of Cairns and we had diner on the Esplanade St. front of the sea.

Le lendemain, nous avons restés à Cairns. Nous avons été au Mont Withfield pour avoir une vue sur Cairns mais c'était plus une vue sur l'aéroport que sur la ville... mouais pas mal. Ensuite, on est retourné au lagon pour finir la soirée avec notre traditionnel BBQ.

The next day, we stayed in Cairns. We went in Withfield Mt to have a view on the top of the hill. Yeh, a lookout on the airport and a little view on the city... Not too bad. Then, we passed the rest of the day in the Lagoon, still with BBQ for lunch.

Ca y est, dimanche est arrivé et Vincent doit partir. On le laisse à l'aéroport et Thibault s'est arrêté sur le drop off et malgré mon conseil personne n'est resté près de la voiture et le temps qu'on passe vite fait dans l'aéroport et on s'est fait appelé pour évacuer la voiture... mais en arrivant on avait déjà une amande! Le plus débile, c’et que le flic se trouvait à 5 mètres de nous quand on a laissé la voiture : ) Bref, une fois tout ca terminé on est retourné à Cairns pour prendre trois amis de Thibault pour faire du covoiturage jusqu'à Sydney. Soit trois jours et 2780 km. Premier jour, destination Airlie Beach à 700 bornes. Petit arrêt pour se détendre dans le lagon et prendre notre première bière depuis plus d'une semaine avec d'autre amis ifmaliens. Chose intéressante sur le trajet, on a vu différent paysages en passant de la forêt verte et humide des rainforest par un paysage plus désertique. Génial. Ensuite, on a trouvé un campement sauvage pour dormir.

Here it was, Sunday; Vincent had to take our flight to come back in Melbourne in order to take his flight back to France two days after. At the airport, Thibault let the car on the drop off line and left the car. Despite of my advice, we let the car and 5 minute after we were called by the airport to take off our car. So I went there to do it but we already got a fine. So crazy because when we let the car, the police was 5 meters to the car and said nothing to us. :( Anyway, once we were done, we took three others guys (friends of Thibault) to come back to Sydney. So we started the 2780km way to Sydney with only 3 days. Our first destination, Airlie beach after 700km in order to enjoy the Lagoon after a long day or driving. On the way, we saw so different landscapes, with the rainforest, really green and wet; and after a landscape much more like a desert. It's amazing. During the night, we enjoyed a beer 9first one since more than one week) with other Ifmaliens that we met in Airlie beach. Then, we camped in a sugar cane field.

Jour suivant, destination Burnetts Heads pour tenter de voir encore les tortues. Mais la encore, pas de chance la pluie était présente. Durant le trajet, on s'est arrêté à Clairview pour voir Matthieu qui fait un roadtrip avec des amies venues de France. Trop cool on s'est arrêté à la plage et on a pu voir des tortues nagées juste au bord. Nus avons de nouveau fait notre BBQ à Bargara avant d'aller voir les tortues sortir de la mer pour pondre. Puis vers minuit, nous avons décidé de partir car aucune tortue n'était venue et Thibault et moi avons roulé toute la nuit pour être à Surfeur Paradise le lendemain matin, soit 450km de façon a pouvoir faire une journée de surf ! Nous sommes arrivés à 5h du matin et comme il faisait déjà jour nous avons été sur la plage de surfeur mais la pluie a fait de nouveau son apparition:( Donc après une légère détente, nous avons repris la route vers Byron Bay pour faire du surf! Cette place est très réputée et connues des surfeurs et qui se situe sur la Gold Coast. Sur place on aurait dis qu'il y avait comme un microclimat car la pluie était moindre. Nous avons loués une planche de surf et été sur la plage. J'ai surfé durant 3 heures avec une planche de 8.2 feet de long (une planche de débutant). J'ai même essayé une planche de 7.3 feet de long et malgré des vagues courtes, j'ai pu me faire plaisir et j'ai adoré!!!! Ensuite, nous avons mangé un fish & chips avant de reprendre la route vers Coffs Harbours pour dormir. Journée totalement Australienne, géniale!
Malheureusement, les trois autres gars ne sont pas des aventuriers comme nous donc nous sommes allés dans un camping pour la dernière nuit. : )

Next day, our destination was Burnett Heads to try seeing turtles this time. On the way, we stopped at Clairview to see Matthieu with his friends who was doing a road trip from Brisbane to cairns as well. And because the stop was on the beach, we saw few turtles swimming in the sea close to the beach, so good :)
Once arrived, we decided to have diner front of the sea in Bargara even if the weather was raining since the morning as well :( After that, we went to Oaks Beach for the turtles and wait again... unfortunately, it was raining again and despite of one turtle, we left after midnight because we wanted to be near Surfeur Paradise the next morning in order to surf! So we had to drive 460km during the night. Thibault & I did it until 5:00am but it was already sunshine and raining again, we stopped only few minutes in Surfeur Paradise. So we didn't sleep and once a little rest done, we drove again to Byron Bay. It is a known place for surfing so obviously, we went to the beach and we surfed. It was my first time and even if was still raining and really heavy; we went in the sea with a board. I don't know if there is a micro-climate in Byron Bay, but the rain was lighter which a good thing was. So I surf during 3 hours and I did what I wanted before to come in Australia: to surf! Moreover, my first time was in Byron Bay on the Gold Coast. I got a 8.2 feet long board (a beginner one) and even if the waves were not so good, not long enough; I stood up on the board many times!!!I really enjoyed it. And I tried a 7.3 board as well. After that, we ate a fish & chips front of the sea. It was a day like an Australian... nice. The, we drove again to Coff Harbours which is in the half way between Brisbane and Sydney. And again, it was raining, unbelievable! :(
There we had diner and we went to a camp ground and not a wild camp because of the rain and the other three guys were not cool and adventurers. Anyway we slept.

Le jour suivant, dernier jour de route vers Sydney avec 540km. Nous sommes arrivés dans le milieu de l'après-midi et après avoir rendu la voiture de loc., nous avons été à Goodee Beach pour diner et boire une bière sur la plage.

Next day, we finished the road to Sydney, 540km. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon and once there, we got back the rent car and when we had finished, we went to Goodee beach to have diner and drink a beer on the beach.

Le lendemain, on y est le 31 décembre... Thibault et moi nous sommes levés à 7h30 pour aller au plus beau spot pour voir le feu d'artifice au Botanic garden. Sur la route, petit achat de nourriture et nous y voila dans la queue... Seulement 20000 personnes peuvent rentrés mais on y est! Notre spot avec vu sur l'opéra et le pont de Sydney! Ok 15 heures d'attentes mais c’est pour l'un des plus beau feu d'artifice du monde! C'était cool car j'ai rencontré des brésiliennes, suisse, allemands, français... et ca y est minuit arrive! Le feu démarre ca pète de partout.. 4 lieux où le feu est tiré c'est magnifique! Malheureusement, ca na duré que 10 minutes mais on peut l'expliquer car 4 lieux d'où il est tiré et en plus ils ont en tiré un autre à 21h pour les enfants... donc tout cumule, ca fait un énorme feu d'artifice. Bon de toute façon, je l'ai fais! J'étais parmi les 1,5 millions de personnes qui on vu le feu d'artifice de Sydney pour 2010!
Ensuite, on a marche dans la ville mais tout le monde rentrait chez eux et comme on était lessivé et fatigué de l'attente, on est aussi rentré.

The next morning, it was the 31st and Thibault and I woke up at 7:30am to be in the city for 8am and buy some food for the day. We wanted to be really early in the botanic garden to see the fireworks of Sydney with a view on the Opera and the Sydney's bridge. Once there, so many people were already waiting and finally, we wait 15 hours before seeing the fireworks. A nice part that is that you can meet people and for my part, I met some Brazilians girls, Switzerland guy, French, Germans... and for the New year Eve in Sydney, there is a fireworks for the kids at 9pm and the big one for midnight. And here it was, midnight and the fireworks started... everyone was exciting and just after 10 mins it was done :( It was nice but you know wait 15 hours and only 10 mins fireworks... yeh I think I can explain it because it was 4 places where the fireworks was launched and moreover 2 fireworks, it is already expansive. Anyway, I saw it, the 2010 Sydney's fireworks! Yeh mate, I was one of the 1.5 millions of people watching the fireworks. :)
After that, we walked to the city but everyone came back home so we did the same because we were quite sleepy and wanted to have a good sit.

Pour le premier janvier, nous avons passés la journée avec Sophie (chez qui on dort) et Jeremy, deux autres amis de mon école faisant leur stage à Sydney. Nous avons juste passés la journée dans la ville, mangés des pancakes et rencontrés Pitch (un autre ifmalien) pour boire une bière et mangés une pizza au kangourou et à l'autruche. Ensuite, on a fini la soirée en marchant sur le pont de Sydney et admirer la vue sur la ville. Très jolie!

For the first of January, we spent the day with Sophie (who let us sleep in her house) and Jeremy, two others French guys coming from our school who are doing their internship in Sydney. We just spend the afternoon in the city, eat some pancakes and then we met Pitch (other friend from my school) and his parents and we went to a bar for a drink. Then, we went to a place to eat some pizza with kangaroos and emu. It was good. Then we walked on the Sydney's bridge to enjoy the view on the city...

Le jour suivant, nous avons voulus aller surfer mais la pluie a fait de nouveau son apparition donc on a changé de plan et fait un BBQ chez Sophie. Le soir nous avons mangé dans un bar terminés tranquillement la soirée.

The next day, we wanted to surf but I was raining again so we did a BBQ in Sophie's place. Just a relaxing day and we finished by having diner in a bar.

Dimanche, dernier jour de vancance avant de repartir sur Melbourne; petit reveil tranquille avant d'aller en ville pour manger un pancake (Blackforest cherry) et faire les courses pour une soiree chez Sophie avec ses collogues. Genial. Mais voila, il me faut partir a 5H du matin pour prendre mon avion pour Melbourne afin d'aller a l'universite et finir ma derniere journee...

Sunday, last day of my holidays before to go back to melbourne; wake up really slowly before to go in the city to eat pancakes (Blackforest cherry) and do some shopping to prepare a party at Sophie's place with her housemates. So nice. But here it was, 5am, it was time for me to go to the airport to take my flight to Melbourne for my last day in the university...
